Título: GWAS für COVID19
IP: Prof. Dr. Andre Franke / Dr. Toni Julia
Resumen del proyecto: The objective of the projects is to determine if host genetics can predict a severe disease course. We aim for a quick analysis of common HLA alleles and haplotypes as several scientists have speculated that the HLA region may be of outmost importance, i.e. specific HLA alleles or haplotypes could be trotective or put people at risk for COVID19.
We also aim to validate in a large European cohort the findings of a recent study held in Wuhan and Shenzzhen, China, that showed that blood group A was associated with a higher risk for acquiring COVID19 as compared with non-A bloods groups, whereas blood group 0 was associated with a lower risk for the infection compared with non-0 blood groups. We here aim to use a recently calidated state-of-the-art array for analyzing the bllod group traits in 5,000 European COVID-19 patients.
