Resumen del proyecto: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a disease with great variability regarding the presence and intensity of clinical manifestations and response to treatment. This heterogeneity suggests that, nowadays, within the FM diagnosis we are including different conditions with related but not equal, pathogenic mechanisms.
The aim of this study is to replicate the significant results obtained after analyzing 297 single nucleotid polymorphisms (SNPs) in a sample of 560 patients diagnosed with FM, which sought association between genetic variants and a) FM symptoms, and b) disease severity (assessed by different scales and questionnaires).
We want to conduct a cross-sectional study, which will include patients diagnosed with FM according to the criteria of the American College of Rheumatology (Wolfe, 1990), Caucasian and over 18 years, excluding those individuals with inflammatory rheumatic diseases, or otherwise, that are associated with limited physical and functional capacity, and those with serious psychiatric conditions.
The main variables will be the presence of sicca syndrome (dichotomous variable), presence of sleep disorders (dichotomous variable), and the score of the depression subscale of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS; continuous variable).
