Título: Epigenetic discrimination of monozygotic twins and biological age estimated from the DNA methylation profiles.
IP: Dr. Juan R. Ordoñana
Resumen del proyecto: This project intends to explore structural variants of DNA for human identification in the search for biomarkers that allows discrimination of monozygotic twins and age estimation in biological samples. The methods proposed for the development of this project are innovative in
computational and biological technology, and expected results represent a step forward for human identification systems.
For this purpose, in a first phase public available data in repositories such as Gene Expression Omnibus will be used. These methylation databases enabling the development of identification systems monozygotic and age
determination were extracted. These data will be used, first, to determine those sites or genes more discriminative in the above tasks. Before validation in laboratory, sites / genes identified as most relevant to be employed, based on public data, we will create prototypes of systems identification and age estimation using computational techniques for
estimating the error rate such systems.
Once this bioinformatic validation, biomarker data computationally
identified in a sample of twins and twins persons belonging to Murcia Twin
Registry deposited in the National Bank of DNA will be performed by pyrosequencing technique on a PyroMark MD96. Predictable identified biomarkers will also open new horizons of opportunities for research in the discovery of new markers related to Forensic Genetics.
